# Claude Opus 5 Is Now Available

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 at the same price as Opus 4.8. It is now the flagship Claude model in AI Data Stream, with Opus 4.8 kept as the previous generation.

Anthropic released **Claude Opus 5** today. It is now the flagship Anthropic model in AI Data Stream. Opus 4.8 remains available as the previous generation, so you can compare the two on your own analytics before switching.

## Pricing

Anthropic prices Opus 5 the same as Opus 4.8 on the standard API we use:

- **Input:** $5 per million tokens
- **Output:** $25 per million tokens

Because the price is unchanged, moving to Opus 5 is a straight upgrade for most workloads.

## What's New

Anthropic reports large gains across the board, and the improvements most relevant to analytics work stand out: 9 percentage points higher accuracy on financial modeling with 60% less processing time, and notably stronger statistical rigor — Anthropic describes it as behaving like a "careful scientist", cross-validating results before reporting them. It is also better at finding the root cause of a problem rather than just describing the symptom, which is exactly what you want when asking why your traffic changed. ## Opus 4.7 Has Been Retired

We have removed Opus 4.7 from the model picker. If it was your default, you will move to **Opus 5** automatically the next time you start a conversation — no action needed. Opus 4.8 is still available if you prefer to stay on the previous generation.

## Effort Levels

Opus 5 supports the full effort scale: **low, medium, high, xhigh, max**. The same scale is available on Opus 4.8.

## The Full Claude Lineup

- **Claude Fable 5** — Most powerful, premium; for the hardest reasoning
- **Claude Opus 5** — Latest frontier model, for demanding tasks
- **Claude Opus 4.8** — Previous-generation Opus
- **Claude Sonnet 5** — Best balance of speed and capability (default)
- **Claude Sonnet 4.6** — Previous generation
- **Claude Haiku 4.5** — Fastest, great for quick queries

## Switching Models

1. Go to **Settings > AI Providers**
2. Click your Anthropic provider
3. Select your preferred model from the dropdown
4. Save

Or select it from the model picker when starting a new conversation.
